Glossary
Hiranyagarbha
Translates to ‘golden womb’, ‘golden embryo’ or ‘cosmic egg. In Hindu philosophy, it is the primordial source of the universe and the ultimate seed of cosmic manifestation. It represents the total subtle body and the collective cosmic mind that precedes all physical creation.
Kali Yuga
The age of spiritual decline, confusion, and moral weakening.
Satya Yuga / Golden Age
The Golden Age of purity, truth, and divine alignment.
Aum / Om / Ohm
The primordial sound described in the Upanishads (ancient philosophical texts) as the vibration from which the universe emerges. Considered the seed of all mantras (sacred chants).
Visions
Spiritual experiences where divine beings or events are seen inwardly.
Confluence Age
In Hindu cosmology, the sandhi — the junction period between two yugas, where transformation occurs.
Homam / Homa
A Vedic fire ritual, conducted by priests, where offerings are placed into sacred fire to invoke deities, for purification.
Lord Dhanvantri
The divine physician; an avatar of Lorel HariHara.
Subtle Form
The subtle or astral body, invisible to physical eyes.
Lord Narayana
A supreme form of Vishnu. Nārāyaṇa = “the resting place of all beings” or “the one who pervades all waters (nāra)".
Lord Siva
From śiva = auspicious, benevolent. The destroyer of ignorance and transformer of consciousness.
Sivalingam / Lingam
The sacred representation of Lord Siva in the temple. Represents Siva as formless cosmic consciousness.
Rudram
Rudram is the fierce, roaring storm-god form of Lord Shiva that represents cosmic dissolution, transformation, and the untamed forces of nature.
Inner Sanctum
The inner most sacred chamber of the temple where the deity resides.
Sudarshana Chakra
A spinning disc weapon of Lord Narayana (Vishnu) symbolising,clarity, protection, and the destruction of negative forces.
Guru Satya Sai
A spiritual master, recognised for his universal teachings - that human being's basic nature is divine and that the purpose of life is the realization of this divinity
Guru Dhakshinamoorthy
A form of Siva as the supreme teacher, symbolising wisdom.
Sati / Shakti
The primordial creative energy, power, divine feminine force.
Asuras
Beings , as forces opposing cosmic order. Beings representing imbalance or ego, opposed to divine order; not “demons,” but powerful entities with egoic imbalance.
Tapas
Spiritual austerity generating inner fire and purification.
Gayatri
The universal mother of mantras, associated with illumination and clarity.
RajaRajeswari
The supreme mother of the universe, representing beauty, sovereignty, and divine grace.
Ashta Durga
The eight protective forms of Sati, each embodying strength and protection.
Lord Ganesh
The remover of obstacles, symbolising clarity, new beginnings, and the clearing of inner and outer barriers.
Prema Sai
The prophesied future incarnation of Sathya Sai Baba mentioned in modern Sai literature, associated with universal love.
Parvati
The divine mother, embodying devotion, strength, and the creative power known as Sati / Shakti.
